This garlic naan recipe delivers tandoori-style flavor with a triple dose of garlic. The technique involves pressing minced garlic into the surface before cooking, brushing with garlic-infused ghee after cooking, and topping with fresh cilantro. Find the full recipe and air frying directions here.

For the garlic topping:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced very fine
  • 2 tablespoons melted ghee or butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

This variation is self-seasoned
  1. 01Make the dough same as the base recipe. Knead 4 minutes, rise 1 hour.
  2. 02Mix the minced garlic into the melted ghee. Let it sit while the dough rises so the garlic infuses the fat.
  3. 03Divide into 4 pieces. Roll into ovals.
  4. 04Before cooking, press raw minced garlic bits into the top surface of each naan. Push them into the dough slightly so they don't blow off in the air fryer.
  5. 05Ready for the air fryer. Cook garlic-side up.
  6. 06Brush with the garlic ghee and cilantro after cooking.
Garlic naan gets garlic three ways: minced garlic pressed into the surface before cooking (this toasts and mellows), garlic infused ghee brushed on after (this is punchy and aromatic), and fresh cilantro to brighten everything. The combination of raw, toasted, and infused garlic is what gives restaurant garlic naan its depth.
