Two rules for great burgers: make a dimple and don't mix seasoning into the meat. The dimple prevents the burger from puffing up into a dome shape. This recipe shows you how to make amazing air fryer burgers.

Steps
01Divide the beef into 4 equal portions. Form into patties about 3/4 inch thick, slightly wider than the bun because they shrink.
02Press a thumb-sized dimple into the center of each patty.
03Season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Don't mix seasoning into the meat. Season the outside only.
04Ready for the air fryer.
05Add cheese in the last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking if you want it melted.
Two rules for great burgers. One: the dimple. Without it, the center puffs up into a dome and you get a burger shaped like a tennis ball. Two: don't mix seasoning into the meat. Mixing overworks the beef and gives you a dense, sausage-like texture. Season the outside like you're seasoning a steak.
